I wanted fried chicken. Wanted it reaaal bad. There’s a big but: it’s unhealthy and fatty. So what would be the possible alternatives?
Homemade chicken wings! Yassss, please bring ’em on! Chicken wings are the best comfort food you can prepare within minutes and taste absolutely phenomenal. I love the crispy skin and the juicy meat. Also, I love how diverse it is – yup, brace yourself, there will be more recipes coming.
What you’ll need (to feed two reasonably or one unreasonably hungry people):
- 10 whole wings
- 3 tsp lemon-chilli spice rub
- 3 tsp za’atar
- Salt and pepper
- 5-6 tbs fat-free yoghurt
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1 lemon’s zest and a few drops of juice
Preheat your oven to 250 degrees. Add the spices to the chicken and lay them on a cooking rack strictly in one layer. I used coconut oil cooking spray to add as much oil to it as the average sunshine in late spring in London – or I could just say ‘hardly any’. Cook them for 30 minutes. Make sure to turn them in every 10 minutes.
Grate the garlic and mix it with the yoghurt and the lemon zest and juice. Season it with salt and pepper.
